Abstract:
The proliferation of modem submarines with sophisticated torpedoes has triggered great interests of navy world in finding ways to protect their vulnerable surface ships from the growing torpedo threat. The great efforts to meet the growing demands for torpedo defense by foreign producers are reviewed. Nowadays, most of the current torpedo defences are soft kill systems. But a soft kill system is ineffective against some types of torpedoes. Consequently, some people are now focusing on hard kill systems which can eliminate the threat when others are using modern techniques to improve the effectiveness of the soft kill systems.
