Abstract: This paper discusses briefly several new type integrated circuit devices an their important role in development of the advanced level medical ultrasound scanner. First, a brief introduction of the design principle and criteria of such ASIC devices as PLD, GA, SC, etc is made in the paper. Then, a discussion of the. advantages of using ASLC devices instead of traditional SSI/MSI devices is devoted and an account of the difficulties in popularizing ASIC devices in China is given. In the paper, also a simple description of digital signal processors, image processors and new central processor units is given.At the end of the paper, a proposal on the possibility of introducing these latest devices into the advanced level medical ultrasound scanners is put forward.
