Abstract: Definitions and measurement methods of "diffusion coefficient" and "scattering coefficient" are presented. Two parameters, AES and ISO, are introduced respectively to characterize the sound-scattering properties of room surfaces. Their features and the application scope are examined. Problems existing in current researches that need further investigations are also discussed.
