Abstract: Taking into account the significant differences between the recently revised equal-loud-ness level contours(ELLCs) and that specified in the former version of ISO 226 standard,a preliminary investigation of Chinese speakers′ ELLCs from 60phon to 80phon was carried out.The purpose of the study is to verify the conformity of Chinese speakers′ ELLCs with the new ISO standard.Our results show that remarkable differences still exist between China and ISO,and ELLCs of Chinese speakers are closer to that of Japanese.From the initial results,it may be concluded that ELLCs have regional difference.Therefore it is necessary to study the effects indi′vidually on a regional basis.
