Abstract: Research has been done on the acoustic characteristics of Chinese ancient bells has been done according to the vibration theory of the bell,and the key parameters that affect the vibration are found out. A local test of the Chinese ancient bell-Longhun Bell is taken.The strike note and the sound decay are measured, and theoretical calculation for Longhun Bell is also made. Results from test match the theory very well. Thus, the proved theoretical study is useful for the foundry design of the bell.
