Abstract: Scientists from Oman and China carried out the first Oman off-shore survey in April 2009,Side-scan Sonar and Sub-bottom Profiler were used in this survey,and the sub-bottom profile data of the survey is studied in this paper.The basic working principle of sub-bottom profiler is briefly introduced.Since the data directly acquired from the survey contain high noise and blurry layers,median filtering and edge processing are applied to make figure clear and then deduce stratigraphic categories according to the image feature.Finally,after a comprehensive analysis of large amount of data,an approximate description of sub-bottom profile of the survey area is achieved,and the direction of future work is pointed out.
