Abstract: This paper presents a theoretical basis of the random digital averaging technique in time interval measurement, and discusses the magnitude of errors based on the statistical theory.A uniform delay digital averaging technique is proposed, which has practical significance in estimating errors, determining number of measurements required, and designing relevant instruments.
