Abstract:
This paper reviews various shape design methods of streamlined bodies of revolution: (1) The shape-form curve is represented by exact mathematical formula; (2) The shape design is represented by a singularity distribution method; and (3) The shape profile of body of revolution is represented by a table of offset. The analytic expressions of mathematical formulation are given for streamlined bodies of revolution represented by offsets, and every one of the expressions is able to fit a given shape with a good result. These shape design methods and mathematical expressions will be used widely in practical application of engineering.
