Abstract:
This paper introduces a new ultrasound imaging method called vibro-acoustography. Firstly, the basic principle of the vibro-acoustography is discussed. Several applications in medicine are then presented, including imaging calcific arteries, detecting microcalcifications in breast, and detecting tissue lesions caused by thermotherapy or HIFU therapy. By comparing differences between vibro-acoustography and conventional ultrasound imaging methods, special advantages of vibro-acoustography are given.
