Abstract:
A kind of miniaturized linear array is studied. The biggest difference between this kind of array and conventional line array is that the element spacing is less than a quarter of a wavelength.Through theoretical analysis and simulation to optimize the weight of the array elements, the good directivity pattern is obtained, and verified by experiment. The directivity pattern of the miniaturization linear array has four major characteristics:①unilateral directivity:Only has an axially symmetric major lobe in half-space without grating lobes and minor lobes.②end fire:The major lobe appeared in the axial direction of the array.③super directivity:The good directivity pattern can be obtained under the condition that the size of this array is far less than half wavelength, and the beam width reduces along with reducing element spacing.④constant beam width:Under the condition that the element spacing is less than 1/8 wavelength, the variation of the beam width is gentle along with frequency shifting. This kind of miniaturized array is not only suitable for small-sized installment platform uses, but also can be used as a sub-array in the large-scale array, such as towing array and expansion array, for the detection of low frequency wideband signal.
