Abstract: Torpedo is the main underwater threat to surface ship. How to carry out valid defence against torpedo is always a key problem which needs to be highly regarded and urgently solved for navies. The technical status of torpedo defence in the world is reviewed based on the deep analysis of key factors affecting surface ship torpedo defence in the paper. Finally, the progress of technical torpedo defence is expected along with the development of new technologies.
