A method of amplitude and phase errors correction for cylindrical array based on array rotation

  • The errors correction of array amplitude and phase is an important research direction in array signal processing of underwater acoustic detection systems. In this paper, an active correction method is proposed for amplitude and phase errors of cylindrical array based on array rotation. It could improve the correction accuracies of array amplitude and phase errors, thereby achieve high-precision and high spatial resolution of the angle estimation of arrival. According to the method, the azimuth of the correction source is calibrated firstly, with error decoupling between the incident azimuth angle and amplitude phase based on array rotation. Then, the errors of amplitude and phase of the array are calculated by eigen-decomposition and arithmetic mean algorithm. The proposed method does not require accurate azimuth angle measurement of the correction source and complex experimental system. The results of simulation and analysis of measured data on the lake show that the corrected phase deviation is less than 1°, and the normalized level is reduced by about 30 dB. The accuracies of array amplitude and phase errors correction is significantly improved. It verifyies the effectiveness of the proposed method in engineering applications.
