Research on the Method of Eliminating Residual Stress in Steel Plates by Ultrasonic Aging Treatment

  • During the cold and hot processing of high-strength steel, high levels of macro- and micro-residual stresses are prone to occur. Such stresses not only reduce the dimensional stability and fatigue strength of components but may also cause brittle fractures or delayed cracking, seriously jeopardizing the safe service performance of structures. This study focuses on reducing residual stress in high-strength steel plates using an ultrasonic method. The optimal parameters for ultrasonic stress reduction were determined through molecular dynamics simulations, and a corresponding stress reduction system was subsequently developed. For the experiment, the initial residual stress distribution in the steel plates was measured using the ultrasonic method. Subsequently, the samples were subjected to stress reduction using the developed ultrasonic stress reduction system. Finally, the residual stress distribution in the steel plates was measured again after the reduction process. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of this method in reducing stress in steel plates.
